We all know that Yoga increases your muscle flexibility, relieves stress, tones up your body and increases your spiritual peace on your road towards enlightenment, thus it's not rocket science to assume it also benefits your sex life. Yoga offers you and your partner a number of physical and emotional advantages which make sex fun, and provide a deeper, more fulfilling, meaningful sexual relationship for both of you.
There was a time when Yoga was thought to be practiced only by women (and perhaps old men with long white beards) but in this mainstream age many men in their prime are turning to it, both because it helps to deal with the stresses and turmoil of our hurly burly fast paced world, and because Yoga improves their flexibility and strength thus enriching their sex lives.
Sex and Yoga have a lot in common with one another - both are about opening up and venturing deep into oneself to explore new strengths, endurances and discoveries. Sex is part of a natural rhythm and drive, in all of us and should be enjoyed, celebrated and enhanced. More often than not, it becomes dulled due to the stresses (and commercialization) of daily life, and Yoga enables you to reconnect with these natural rhythms.
Ideally, it would be nice to do Yoga with your partner, but if that's not convenient, simply build yourself up to wow your partner between the sheets. Sex is also similar to Yoga in that the more you commit yourself to it, trust in it, learn to let yourself go and still your ego - the more you can transform yourself and serve your partner better (both in the bedroom, and out of it).
Similarities between Sex and Yoga
- Scientists have measured natural rises of testosterone (the main hormone for sexual arousal) in both men and women during Yoga poses.
- Fast breathing exercises done during Yoga increase blood flow through the genitals promoting arousal even for those with low libidos
- When you leave the hot yoga mat, you are more open, relaxed and patient, just like after a vigorous session of sexual intercourse
- As your confidence grows in the Yoga studio, so does your confidence in the outside world. That's the same as with sex, if you are strong and assertive in the bedroom, it carries over into your life and your assertiveness enables stronger, clearer decision-making
- Both practices produce significant increases in blood pressure, heart rates, sweating (though the women perspire rather than sweat), energy (afterwards) and unblocking of pent-up energy
- Physical aspects of your body are also strengthened, including toning up the pelvic muscles, enhancing confidence, sensuality and orgasms
